Kemtrak Photometer TC007

DESCRIPTION

The Kemtrak Photometer TC007 is a high-resolution backscatter photometer that has revolutionized the measurement of suspended solids concentration. Conventional optical meters based on turbidity measurement lack resolution and stop working at suspended solids concentrations around 1% due to their extremely high optical density. This limitation is eliminated in the TC007, and for the first time the operator can monitor and fully control the process. Knowing exactly what is happening at any given time, changes to the process can be made quickly, resulting in significant cost savings

The Kemtrak TC007 is an easy-to-use industrial flow-through fiber optic turbidimeter designed to accurately measure the concentration of light scattering components. Measurements are made in real time in production processes.

Long life LED solid state lamps and precision fiber optics are used to provide bias-free and noise-free measurements with very high accuracy.

The Kemtrak TC007 can be configured to use the nephelometric method of turbidity measurement in accordance with the international standard ISO7027. In this mode, a proprietary algorithm mathematically combines the ratio of attenuated and scattered light to accurately monitor sample turbidity. Automatic compensation for sample color and optical window contamination ensures smooth operation.

Maintenance-free measuring cells with scratch-resistant sapphire windows have no electronics or moving parts, making the device suitable for use in hazardous production areas. Used in / for:

  • Filtration monitoring
  • Centrifuge control
  • Cell and biomass density
  • Crystallization control
  • Phase separation
  • Water transparency
  • Concentration measurement
  • Detection of leaks, transfers and interfaces

Allows measurement in different measurement ranges

CHARACTERISTICS

Model TS007 Photometer

Principle of Measurement
Depends on the measuring cell or probe geometry used

1) NIR (NIR) Absorption (0o):
  • Weakened light / absorption
2) Scattered Light (90o)
  • Determination of the turbidimetry coefficient using a primary nephelometric light scattering signal (90°) and a reference transmitted signal (0°) for automatic compensation for color and contamination. Conforms to ISO 7027-1 / DIN 27027
3) Backscatter (180°)
  • Backscattering of light using a fiber optic probe

Light source
Source:
  • High-performance TS LED InGaAs emitting light-emitting diode
Wavelength:
  • 850 nm (NIR)
  • 350 - 1100 nm optional
Typical lamp life: > 10 years

Photo detectors
  • Silicone photodiode

Photometric range
1) NIR (NIR) Absorption (0°)
  • 0 - 5 OD (10 mm OPL)
  • 0 - 100 OD (0.5 mm OPL)
  • 0 - 10% solids
  • 0 - 10,000 FTU (Formazine Turbidity Units)
2) Diffused light (90°)
  • 0 - 1000* FTU 0 - 250 EBC (European Brewery Convention units)
3) Backscatter (180°)
  • 0 - >80% of total suspended solids
  • 0 - > 10,000 FTU
1 FTU (Formazine Turbidity Units) = 1 NTU = 1 FNU
Other units of measurement include AU, ASBC-FNU, Helms, ppm, etc.
* Range can be extended to 4,000 FTU by using a shorter OPL

Expansion range
Typically <± 0.05 % of the respective measuring range

For measurement of stray light (90°):
  • 0.01 - 10 FTU 0.01 FTU (0.0025 EBC)
  • 10 - 100 FTU 0.1 FTU (0.025 EBC)
  • 100 - 1000 FTU 1 FTU (0.25 EBC)

Repeatability: <± 1% or 0.01 FTU, the greater of
Accuracy: <±2% of reading plus stray light
Stray Light: Typically <0.05 FTU (depends on the cells/measurement probes used)
